John Paine Hall, an administrative office building on the Russell Sage campus in Troy, NY, was renovated by BHI in order to make room for the college’s new initiative: Incubator for Nanotechnology Ventures, Emerging Science, and Technologies (INVEST at Sage). The building’s first tenant was Evident Technologies, a pioneer and world leader in the development of quantum dots semiconductor nanomaterials. Three main floors of the hall were renovated, and the space now includes laboratory facilities and offices.
The administrative offices were moved to Hart Hall, one of the college’s old dormitories. BHI renovated the 1950s, five-story building in only six short weeks to accommodate Paine Hall’s displaced staff. Renovation included taking down walls, replacing floors and windows, constructing a five-story elevator shaft, and installing a new elevator.
In addition, BHI constructed a three-story building, which connects John Paine Hall with the college’s science building.
